Safer BMT

Developing a Safer Way to Prevent BMT Rejection

Conditioning for a BMT, using chemotherapy or radiation, is administered pre-transplant to prevent rejection of the donor cells. Conditioning causes temporary side effects, such as low blood counts, that require patients to remain in the hospital for weeks after their transplant.

We are conducting a trial of a low-intensity conditioning approach that can be performed outpatient.
